As I pulled together this photo montage I was reminded of the incredible changes in a toddler over the course of a year, both physically and developmentally. Wow! Our little missy went from a baby of 1 1/2 years to an adorable little girl of 2 1/2.
It’s bittersweet. I love seeing growth and watching her personality develop, but at the same time I lament everything I miss with her being so far away – one Great Lake and two whole states between us as the crow flies. It’s all good, though. We stay in touch via FaceTime, and visit whenever possible.
Early in the year, I was in Fargo for a babysitting stint, then the kids came to Michigan this summer for a nice visit, and to celebrate little missy’s birthday. The holidays were a total joy. We all met up in Chicago-land and had a great time. That’s little missy and her dad in the last photo above. We took in the light show at the Morton Arboretum in Naperville, IL as part of our holiday festivities. Quite a spectacular display!
Due to work obligations, our visits are far too infrequent, but we’re grateful for phone calls and FaceTime. We’ll retire someday, and then watch out! Not only will we be free to travel more frequently, but we’ll be in a position to host Grammy Camp on the lake. Can’t wait!
